Scanning Sets & Parts

Scanning Sets

You can identify a LEGO® set two ways:

  • Barcode scan — Point your camera at the box barcode.
  • Photograph the box — Capture the box and BrickCabinet reads the set number from the packaging (OCR), then looks the set up in the catalog.

Scanning Parts

For individual pieces, capture the part with your camera. BrickCabinet uses Brickognize AI visual recognition to identify the part, and detects its color automatically. If the automatic color detection is uncertain, you can pick the color manually from a color picker.

The Result Card

After a successful scan, a result card shows:

  • Set thumbnail and name
  • Set ID, theme, year, and piece count
  • Retail price and current market value
  • How many you already own

Actions From a Scan

The available actions depend on where the set already lives in your account:

  • Not in your wishlist — Add to Wishlist
  • Already in your wishlist — Move to My Sets, or Remove from Wishlist
  • Already owned — the set appears in My Sets
